QUESTION?
answer.
-
Yes, I follow the tradition of many tattoo-ers before me.
-
Sometimes communication is hard! I reserve time before every custom appointment for making changes and discussing placement and flow. If we want more changes than what can be done in an hour, we consider the appointment a consultation and reschedule for the near future. My worst nightmare is someone not feeling they can trust me enough to tell me when they want something changed. I never get offended about edits, the tattoo is yours to wear, not mine.
That being said, amount of detail, placement, and anatomical choices are something we must discuss. I will not put a tattoo on you that isn’t going to heal good, it isn’t fair to you or me.
-
I charge by the piece, but I have a guiding rate of $150 an hour. I will give you a range when you book in for an appointment. If the first iteration of drawing lacks communication on the client end, and results in a compete scrap and redraw, I will take a $50 drawing fee to compensate for time lost.
-
no!
-
I book for 2-3 months out only, except for people traveling, or guest spots/conventions!
-
That’s so baller first of all, thank you! Please reach out as soon as possible once you know your dates. I am always willing to come in on a day off if you’re traveling to me.
-
Currently you can book for Anatomy Tattoo (wednesday, thursday, sunday) or Birdhouse Tattoo (friday, saturday).
I take limited appointments at birdhouse, but walk-ins all day at that location. My booking service will send you the address for the location you are at!
-
Anatomy: Behind the shop there’s a cute neighborhood with no payed or timed parking, I suggest there!
Birdhouse: There’s a big lot off MLK next to the shop, it’s gravel and kind of busy sometimes but for sure free!
-
I am a workaholic and I have never done anything casually in my life.
-
I love you!!! And i love iced lattes! and pastries!! I don’t have any dietary restrictions.
-
Please don’t! Sometimes things take longer than we want them to, and usually your body needs rest after going through pain. I also suggest not drinking after a tattoo, it can mess with healing.
-
I love when you guys have fun silly stories for me, but I fear the thinned out blood and rattled immune system is a bad combo for tattoos. Please don’t no-show me, we can still do the tattoo, but it might suck for you a little.
-
Maybe! But I’m pretty bubbly so we’ll survive it. If you prefer quiet, I do appreciate you tell me! I’m always down to chat if placement allows, it does sometimes make the tattoo take longer (this wont affect pricing).
-
Please tell me as soon as you know you’re not coming! I don’t love being sick, so if we can minimize exposure that’s cool. I also have immunocompromised clients, who I want to protect from unnecessary ailments.
-
Love it! Your scar needs to be more than 2 years old. The skin needs to heal all the way down to the inside of the incisions to be ready for tattoo ink.
If you would like special accommodations for a scar cover up appointment (ie. more private space-or a quieter day) please note that for me in your form.
-
Oh boy me too! I am very willing to change and turn down music, create a privacy barrier, and take breaks! I also request if you have accommodation stuff (headphones, fidgets, weighted blankets) please bring them with! I am in the process of getting some of these accommodations for my station asap.
-
Large scale flash appointments! More color! More cover ups! more travel! more conventions!
-
For larger scale work (over the size of a hand) we must break into multiple sessions. Session one will be consultation, stencil placement (which sometimes takes an hour), and lines. After the first session, your body needs 1 month to heal the tattoo lines completely. It will look unfinished, and I know that’s frustrating, but the patience is rewarded.
The next few sessions are based on both our levels of comfort with how long we want to work. I can work on sections, so you can come in once a week if you would like, or stretch it out longer if you want to have time to save more money, or have life stuff happening.
Please don’t be shy about asking me what a healthy budget looks like, or advocating for needing more time to heal.
-
PLEASE!! It’s all I want in this world. Also if you could have a friend take them, when you’re skin is moisturized, in good even outdoor lighting while you’re wearing a cool outfit I will post them so your ex can see how cool you look without unblocking them.
-
I am pricing by the piece currently, it feels more fair for both client and tattooer. I base this of a $150 an hour rate, but mostly off this diagram:
-
Something you’re not super attached to because it could get ink on it. Something comfy because you’re gonna be lying down. Layers of you get cold or hot.
And it depends what you’re getting tattooed!
Chest: something that exposes the area, ideally no bra or binder.
Legs: shorts are great
Arms: little tank top is great
Back: zip up hoodie you can turn around backwards
-
Of course, only if they are nice to you. Sometimes it’s nice to have company to talk to if i’m locked in, but I also love getting to know my clients if if we have solo time that’s great!
-
I wish! If you don’t have enough cash I can send you to grab more at the end of the appointment, I just ask you leave keys or ID as collateral.
Birdhouse can take card, so either works there.
-
I love talking about this with people. It’s been a big topic with my clients lately. Lots of us have little patchwork stuff, and we didn’t plan completely for the overall visual. It is not too late! I do coverups, and I can freehand designs on to weird shaped gaps. We can work together to balance out, and enhance what is already there.
-
That depends! What days of the week work best for you? If that doesn’t matter:
Anatomy is my home shop, that’s where I have all my fancy stuff, and it is usually quieter and provides a good atmosphere for longer sessions. This is where I prefer to take appointments!
Birdhouse is great for little stuff or if you live closer to NE or if you want to come in as a walk-in same day or if you love plants or if you’re into the vibes!
-
So fun that you like my stuff! Thank you! Ideally we narrow it down to a top 3, and we can totally try on pieces in person during the session based on placement and budget. This is always fun for me!
-
BACK! ARM DITCH! ELBOW! STOMACH! RIBS! TOP OF FEET! TOES! FINGERS!
-
Thank you for choosing me, first tattoos are so special. If you’ve only had little stick and pokes done in your friend’s basement, I consider your first machine tattoo to be a first tattoo.
-
My ex girlfriend is a tattooer and I loitered around her shop with all her friends for a while when I was in college and it was magic. We’re not in each others lives anymore but I thank her eternally for showing me what tattooing could be.
-
I am still a baby tattooer! Please go talk to the old heads about it, they have a better perspective. And better stories.
-
Anything racist. Anything hate related. Anything that feels like a brand to another person or group. Anything that I know won’t heal well.
-
Yes! I will also shower before in an attempt to not be stinky!
-
With second skin (saniderm, dermsheild, tegaderm):
Leave it on for up to three days
if it’s leaking out, take it off early, it is no longer protecting you and bacteria can get up inside
take it off in the shower with warm water and unscented soap
pull it down like a command strip
wash the area
it is normal to have a little adhesive residue
its normal for there to be ink, blood and plasma on the second skin when it comes off
if you’re getting really red, or the edges of the saniderm are super itchy and pulling, take it off early, you may be having a reaction
if you’re having a reaction that’s okay, just baby it a little extra
after the second skin is off, resume normal aftercare for the next 4 weeks
With regular aftercare:
Take the bandage off 3 hours after the tattoo, or when you get home
With clean hands wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap
Pat down with a clean towel or paper towel
Repeat this twice a day for the next for weeks
The tattoo will peel, it will get itchy, this is normal it is a wound
Unscented lotion is great, lotion after washing the tattoo
A light amount is perfect, i don’t recommend vaseline or aquaphor cus they can clog your pores and pull the ink out of your skin which can cause scarring and poor healing
Even if the tattoo appears healed on the outside, it is still healing on the inside until week 4 SO…
WHAT TO AVOID:
Bodies of water
Hot tubs
Baths
Saunas
Dirty Sheets
Dirty clothes
Pets nuzzling the tattoo
Any contaminations
The first touch up is always free! That being said, healing things poorly is always sad, and potentially dangerous
-
Sick! I am not prescribed to the reality that you have to be FULLY covered on both arms to get a very visible tattoo. What I do need you to be in an adult, who knows what field they’re working in, and is of sound mind. And sometimes it does look silly if you do hand or neck without having other tattoos. But it is your body and your choice.
-
Yay! Those are always free, please DM me and I will get you on the schedule. Usually we can have you in and out in an hour!
-
I am getting into product design slowly but surely. Merch is coming soon, keep tabs on this site!
